Ways to
Support Avenues
There are
a variety of ways in which individuals, families and
companies can support the needs of people with
developmental disabilities at Avenues. Most are
provided through
volunteer or internship opportunities or through
specific gifts designated for the project that a
donor is interested in. Often times, general
contributions are provided to Avenues that are put
to use in the area that we deem to be of the
greatest need.

In kind
gifts of needed items are always welcome. Office and
home furnishings; printing of Avenues newsletters
and reports, industrial and hand tools, computers
and other needed equipment, clothing, food, gift
certificates, and tickets to recreational events are
examples of in-kind gifts that are utilized within
the Avenues programs.
Individuals, civic
groups, church groups and other organizations have
targeted all or some of the various needs within
Avenues. For example, a group may wish to fund 10
individuals for recreational needs during the year,
for a total of $1,000. Contributions for any variety
and/or portions of the identified needs can be
provided.
Avenues also holds five
major fund raising events during the year. These
include:
Love Affair Dinner (February),
Irish
Night(March),
Golf/Tennis Classic(July),
Wine Event(August) and our
Day
at the Races(September). Gifts to underwrite
various aspects of each event are solicited, along
with raffle and grand prizes, all to raise funds
that benefit the programs and services of Avenues.
Individuals and/or groups can carry out some or all
aspects in any one of these events. Details, as well
as a possible contribution of time as an event
committee member, can be obtained by contacting
Avenues.
Also available from
Avenues, is information regarding designated
planned gifts, bequests, employee match plans,
donations of company products and other in-kind gift
possibilities.
Consideration of an
appointment to our
Partnership Advisory or Governing Boards is also
another valuable asset to Avenues. Time can be spent
learning about the programs and services of Avenues.
Corporate Board members meet 3-4 times per year and
attend functions as their schedule permits.
Governing Board members deal with more operational
issues of Avenues, meeting 6-12 times per year and
also attending functions. |
