What is a Developmental Disability?

A developmental disability generally occurs before the age of 22, is expected to be life-long and results in substantial limitations in the physical or mental functioning of an individual. The most prevalent developmental disability is mental retardation; it also includes but is not limited to disabilities related to Autism, Downs Syndrome, mental retardation and Cerebral Palsy.
