Artists in Residence

Popular Art Program a Canvas of Creativity

Whether drawing fruit bowls, painting  nature scenes, decorating pumpkins and picture frames, or creating self portraits,  Avenues’ participants are expressing themselves in our art program.    The art  program has long been a favorite, but  had been suspended when previous grant  money

(Sitting l to r:  DeeDee Dziedzic, Denise Hacke, Debbie Hopkins, Brian Ray  Standing l to r: Georgia Tomaras, Fred Littel, Nora Prindiville, Cindy Krupski  )

ran out.    Thanks to the efforts of  case managers Elaina Sramek and Aubrey  Flaherty, and the generous art supply donations from Pam Vujovich, of Art in the  Square in Chicago, and Board Member Greg  Simmons, the program has recently been  revived.

Two evenings a month, ten clients meet in  the Crossroads Café at the Wohlers Center  and work with everything from pastels,  oils, colored pencils, crayons and acrylics.  Purposely kept small for individual attention  and instruction, the class is again proving  to be very popular as there are 15 budding  artists on the waiting list for the next session. To help keep the art program continuing on a regular basis, please consider donating  some of the  needed supplies  featured on our  “wish list” , and who knows  what wonderful  works  of art Avenues’  artists can create  with your help!
